Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Human Trafficking

Details

March 26th - This day will feature a series of dynamic speakers and roundtable discussions. These sessions will focus on exploring local solutions and fostering collaboration across key sectors, including Reporting, Education, Prevention, and Resources.

March 27th - The Tracia’s Trust Community Engagement Summit will provide community the opportunity to discuss the current needs of those experiencing sexual exploitation in Manitoba, highlight existing supports, identify gaps, barriers and current trends, and provide recommendations on what is needed to revitalize the Tracia’s Trust Strategy.

If you have already registered, you do not need to register for the second day. If you are planning on only attending for one day, please email izaid@mamawi.com and indicate which day you will join us on.

We invite educators, Indigenous leaders, business leaders (particularly from the hospitality and transportation sectors), elected officials, social service providers, settlement agencies, and community members who are committed to creating a safer, more resilient community in Brandon and beyond. This event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from individuals impacted by sexual exploitation, engage with local leaders, and work together to develop practical, cross-sector solutions.

Together, we can empower our community to prevent exploitation and protect vulnerable youth and adults. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Speaker highlights:

·      Julia Drydyk (The Canadian Centre To End Human Trafficking)

·      Shamin Brown (Shamin Brown Consulting)

·      Kelsey Wade (StreetReach - Province of Manitoba)

·      Hennes Doltze & Chris Molloy (EmpowerMen)

·      Lisa Noctor (Brandon Friendship Centre - Gakina Abinoojiiyag Program Youth Outreach)
